A check is the most direct way to give to the Texas entity: the payee line itself names the recipient, and your receipt shows Feeding America Texas (EIN 92-1776845).

Avoid a common mix-up

Several U.S. charities have names similar to ours. Checks written with a shortened or approximate name can be deposited by the wrong organization — this has happened to donors in our family of charities. Two habits prevent it:

• Write the payee exactly as: Feeding America Texas — all three words, no abbreviations.
• Add our EIN to the memo line: EIN 92-1776845. A bank teller or anyone auditing the gift can then match the deposit to the entity on IRS.gov.

Include with your check

• Your name and mailing address (for the written acknowledgment)
• An email address if you prefer an email receipt
• Optional memo: a program designation such as “Texas directory” or leave it to the area of greatest need

Receipts

We mail (or email) a written acknowledgment for every gift, including the IRS-required acknowledgment for gifts of $250 or more. Feeding America Texas is a 501(c)(3) public charity; gifts are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
