Free summer meals for Texas kids

Where Texas kids 18 and under can get free meals when school is out — summer meal sites, Sun Bucks, and how to find them.

When school cafeterias close for the summer, the USDA Summer Food Service Program keeps kids fed. Any child 18 or younger can eat free at a participating site — no registration, no ID, no income paperwork.

How it works

• Sites operate at schools, libraries, parks, churches, and community centers across Texas — 2,900+ sites in a typical summer
• Kids simply show up during meal hours and eat; adults are not required to apply or prove anything
• Many sites also offer activities, and some offer to-go or rural delivery options

SUN Bucks (Summer EBT)

Texas families with school-age children who qualify for free or reduced-price meals may also receive SUN Bucks — a summer grocery benefit per eligible child loaded onto an EBT card. Most eligible children are enrolled automatically; check YourTexasBenefits.com for status.
